Mini-Mega Flush Trim Router Bits
Our innovative 'mini-Mega' flush trim router bits pack a big punch in a small package. Perfect for handheld routing, their "quattro" compression design tackles your trickiest flush trim jobs with ease.
Handheld routing has seen a revolution in the last few years with advances in compact/trim routers. These little giants now come with all the features you would expect in a full-sized router, like variable speed motors and full function plunge bases. The only drawback is that 1/4" shank router bits have not seen any design changes that take advantage of the new features these handheld routers have to offer, until now...introducing the new mini-Mega Flush Trim Router Bits!
The mini-Mega Flush Trim router bits share the same QUATTRO compression design as their big brothers, the 1/2" shank Mega Flush Trim Router Bits. They also have top and bottom bearings so you can use them for flush trimming and pattern routing applications and with their 1/4" shanks they can be used in any router with a 1/4" collet, including the Bosch Colt, DeWalt 611, Ridged R24012, and many more.
Tackling reversing grain when pattern routing is unavoidable. Having a top and bottom bearing allows you to handle that situation with ease because you can flip your workpiece over without removing the template. Simply adjust your bit height so the other bearing lines up with your template and you'll get great results every time.
The four cutter compression geometry, or QUATTRO Compression as we like to call it, greatly reduces the need to worry about grain orientation for most flush trimming operations. Each mini-Mega Flush Trim router bit has four carbide cutters. Each one has an aggressive shear angle that pushes the wood fibers from the edge towards the center of your workpiece so you get nice clean cuts, both on top and bottom.
The mini Mega Flush Trim router bits are available in three different sizes so you can choose the router bit that best fits your needs. If you need to get into really tight curves and work with stock up to 1" thick, the 06-128 is definitely worth a look. This super slim design packs all four carbide tips into the tightest possible package and is a true upgrade to our most popular traditional design flush trim router bits.
Both the 06-130 and 06-131 are completely new designs. They have a 5/8" cutting diameter which provides a better angle of attack on the material being routed to produce a smoother finish cut, especially in difficult woods.
The 06-130 has a 7/8" tall cutter height. This slightly shorter design has a distinct advantage when flush trimming veneers because the shorter height allows you to choose if you want an up-shear or down-shear cutter geometry by adjusting the bit height. If the veneer you are trimming is 1/8" thick or less you can use the center portion of the router bit and use all 4 cutters. While this is true of all three of the Mini-Mega Flush Trim Router Bits, the 06-130's short cutter height means you can achieve this with base materials or templates that are only 3/4" thick.
Working with lumber up to 1-3/8" thick and still want to use your trim router? You need an 06-131, the largest bit in the Mini-Mega lineup. The 06-131 takes full advantage of the 1+ horsepower these new routers deliver and gives you the reach you need for some of the larger tasks. Don't be fooled, these bits are also right at home in a router table for those times that it's easier to bring the work to the cutter rather than bring the cutter to the work.
Not sure which size you need? Grab all three in our money-saving 3-Pc. package, 00-693.
