Narex Richter Bench Chisels, Quality Old-World Craftsmanship
Narex may be a new brand to many U.S. woodworkers, but it actually originated in 1919 when blacksmith Vaclav Richter began manufacturing chisels and gimlets in the village of Bystřice u Benešova in the modern-day Czech Republic. In recognition of their 100-year anniversary, Narex has produced its extra premium line of Richter chisels. These are great all-around chisels, made with premium materials using a combination of traditional techniques and modern high-tolerance manufacturing processes. Knife edge side bevels allow use in tight corners and delicate joinery, but are still strong enough for mallet use.

- Cryogenically Treated — Following initial hardening, cryogenic treatment is performed which cools the steel down to −190° C (-310° F) using liquid nitrogen. This alters the mechanical properties of the steel at the molecular level greatly increasing its strength, toughness and wear resistance.
- European Ash Handles — Widely recognized for its strength and attractive grain, the wood for these handles is harvested using sustainable timber management practices.
- Stainless Steel Ferrules and Leather Washers — These heavy-duty ferrules and leather washers prevent handle splits and absorb shock from mallet blows.
- 14-Pocket Leather Tool Roll (Optional) — Keep your chisels safe, and service your ever-increasing tool addiction with room to grow. Select Item #00-702 to include the tool roll.
- Edge Guards Included — Nobody’s perfect, even the most careful of us has probably dropped an edge tool at one point or another and ruined a newly sharpened blade. Luckily, each of these chisels comes with an edge guard to protect it from damage when it’s not in the tool roll, or simply for those who prefer not to use the tool roll.
