Mirka Mirlon is a non-woven sanding pad that is superior to steel wool. It leaves a more consistent scratch pattern and does not shed fibers that could contaminate your finish. Mirlon is ideal for sanding raw wood and easily smooths profiles and hard to reach areas that traditional sandpaper can’t. A favorite in the automotive finishing industry, Mirlon quickly produces a consistent scratch pattern and is a perfect choice for scuffing finishes between coats to remove dust nibs and promote adhesion.

Mirlon can be used for both wet and dry sanding applications and since there is no risk of metal fibers being left behind to rust, Mirlon is a perfect choice when using water-based finishes. Mirlon is excellent for shop tool maintenance and easily removes surface rust from metal surfaces such as cast-iron table saw tops or metal hand plane bodies.

Mirlon is available in two different grits identified by color; Maroon has an equivalent of 360 grit and uses aluminum oxide as the bonded abrasive (2/0-3/0 Steel wool equivalent). The Grey Mirlon pads are an equivalent of 1500 grit and use Silicone Carbide as the bonded abrasive (4/0 or finer steel wool equivalent). Whether performing standard maintenance on your woodworking machinery or creating a glass smooth finish on your latest project, Mirka Mirlon is a necessity in any shop.
