Insert-Pro Extended Tenon Shaper Cutter System for Mortise & Tenon Joinery
The Insert-Pro Extended Tenon System is a shaper-based solution for cutting integral tenon profiles on chair legs, table aprons, door stiles, and other furniture components where a standard rail-and-stile cutter does not provide enough tenon length or mass. The extended tenon geometry produces a long shoulder that increases glue surface area and mechanical strength in mortise-and-tenon joinery — a significant advantage over shorter coped joints in chairs and tables that see racking stress.
The Insert-Pro Extended Tenon Shaper Cutter Master System provides a complete starting kit, while the Infinity Tools Extended Tenon Shaper Cutter Sets (1-1/4" Bore) let you configure the system to your existing shaper spindle. Both run on the same 1-1/4" bore standard used across the Insert-Pro line.
Interchangeable Knives for Multiple Tenon Profiles
Like the rest of the Insert-Pro family, the Extended Tenon head accepts swappable profile knives so you can produce different decorative shoulders without replacing the cutter body. Available profiles include:
