TEMPORARILY OVERSOLD UNTIL 04/22/2025

A favorite of Carvers, Luthiers and Gunsmiths, the Carver's Vise excels at clamping all sorts of unusually-shaped workpieces. The thick hardwood jaw faces are rubber lined, providing a non-marking yet secure grip. Each face can be rotated a full 360°, allowing this vise to clamp from 0”-5-3/4” and spread from 8” to 14-1/2”. The vise body also swivels a full 360° so you can work on all sides of your project without walking around your bench.

This heavy-duty vise mounts easily to any workbench up to 4-1/2” thick by inserting the threaded mounting rod through a dog hole and securing with the included oversized washer and wing nut. The machined, cast iron body, steel guideways, and Acme thread drive screw ensure flex-free and consistent clamping force for the most unusual and hardest to hold workpieces. Color may vary.

What are the vise dimensions...how far do the jaws open and what width are they. Is this a "œstandard" luthiers or pattern makers vise as sold at other outlets? See more »

The vise has a maximum opening of roughly 5-3/4", the jaws are 4-3/4"wide, and this would be considered to be a standard size carvers vise.

Does the handle on the end control both the clamping and swiveling or is there a separate mechanism to lock/release the swivel ability? See more »

The handle on the front of the clamp only adjust the clamping pressure. The included threaded metal rod connects to the bottom of the vice and goes through the hole in the base and passes though a hole or dog hold in on your work surface and a large wing nut allow the vice to be locked down in a sing position or swivel for adjustment.

I'm befuddled. I cant see [visually] how it attaches to workbench. Is there a .PDF manual including photos and/or diagrams? See more »

Mounting is very easy as long as you have a dog hole in your workbench for the large threaded rod to pass through. The threaded rod in the photos above screws into the bottom of the vise and the big wing nut and washer thread on from underneath and hold the vise in place. very simple and effective making it easy to install and remove the vise when needed.

The Carver's Vise (100-586) is a favorite of carvers, furniture makers, luthiers, and gunsmiths because of its versatility.

Our Carver's Vice gives you the ability to hold workpieces securely while shaping, sanding, routing, or carving and is essential for woodworkers. Flat and square parts are relatively easy to clamp. But curved, tapered, and otherwise irregular parts can be extremely difficult to hold securely. This is where the Carver's Vise (100-586) shines. Don't let the name fool you. The Carver's Vise, while great for carving, is also a favorite of luthiers, chairmakers, gunsmiths, and furniture makers because it makes securing irregularly shaped stock a breeze.

The rubber padded wooden jaws of the Carver's Vise protect the workpiece, while providing excellent gripping strength.

The Carver's Vise (100-586) mounts easily to just about any workbench with dog holes. A threaded post attached to the base of the vise passes through the dog hole and the included wing nut clamps the vise from underneath. This makes installing, positioning, and removing the vise quick and easy. The fact that you don't need to make any permanent modifications to your workbench is a definite positive in my book.

The jaws of the vise can pivot a full 360° so you can get a grip on the most awkward of shapes.

The magic of the Carver's Vise comes from its jaws that can rotate a full 360°. They allow you to clamp stock up to 5-3/4" thick and can be used to spread from 8" to 14-1/2". The included wooden jaws are rubber lined, producing a slip-free grip that won't scratch or mar your workpiece. These jaws can easily be replaced with your own custom-shaped jaws if desired.

The Carver's Vise (100-586) can both clamp and spread to hold even the most unusual projects.

Made of cast iron and steel this vice is no wimp and weighs in at over 30 pounds. The dual steel guide beams prevent racking through the full range of motion. The distinctive shape and design allow this vise to rotate a full 360° allowing you to position the work exactly how you need it so you don't have to "chase the work" around your bench. the flexibility eliminates interference if you need to mount the vise near a wall or other obstacle that limits access from all sides.

Carver or not, this vise is a must-have in almost every woodworking shop because it will hold the workpieces other vises won't, saving you time and eliminating frustration.
