Parrot Vise With Magnetic Jaw Covers
We've all been in a situation where we need to hold a workpiece at a specific angle that is impossible with traditional workbench vises. If you are a carver, luthier, or gunsmith, holding irregularly shaped workpieces happens on a daily bases. This is where the Parrot Vise (100-584) really shines. Don't forget to add the magnetic jaw covers to make this handy vise even more versatile.
The Parrot Vise has a two-part design, giving it the ability to be adjusted and positioned to suit almost any task. The base is designed to be fastened to a workbench with three screws and features a post on which the vise body mounts and pivots.
The Parrot Vise body has two sets of holes that slide over the post and allow the jaws to be positioned either vertically or horizontally. This design also allows the vise to be rotated a full 360 degrees around the base.
As soon as you tighten the vise, a cam automatically locks the vise head to the base, stopping it from rotating. This handy feature makes adjusting the workpiece and/or the vise position very quick and tool-free so you can keep working.
The Parrot Vise features smooth cast iron jaws that measure 2" tall and 3-1/2" wide and open to 4-7/8". The jaws are drilled and counterbored so you can easily attach your own custom jaw covers. The vise itself is finished with an attractive and durable hammer finish powder coat that prevents rust and resists wear and tear.
The Parrot Vise also has a small flat anvil surface on the back perfect for doing light metalwork, installing rivets, or any time you just need a flat surface safe for striking with a hammer.
Three pairs of magnetic jaw covers are available individually, or sold as a set. Our jaw covers stick to any cast iron or steel body vise and measures 4" wide by 1-1/8" tall.
The first pair of vise jaw covers (585-RJC) features a ribbed rubber surface and are perfect when you don't want to risk marring the surface of your workpiece.
The second pair of vise jaw covers (585-MJC) feature a lightly serrated aluminum face and are perfect when clamping all sorts of material including wood, plastic, and metal.
Finally, the third pair of vise jaw covers (585-PJC) have a prism or grooved face that's specifically designed to grip round workpieces such as dowel rods, spindles, or pipes. This unique face shape will hold different diameters securely, both vertically and horizontally.
If you have a vise and have been looking for a quality set of jaw covers, or you want to have a spare set, we sell all three styles individually or in a 3 pair package here!
