Triton 3-1/4 HP Dual Mode Precision Plunge Router (TRA001)

22 Reviews
$349.90 $413.32

Triton's Award-Winning 3-1/4 hp Router Is The Woodworker's Dream Tool!

The Triton TRA001 Dual Mode Plunge Router features a powerful 2100W (3-1/4 hp) electronically controlled motor with soft start technology and is perfect for both table-mounted and hand held use. One of its most useful features is the rack and pinion trunion system that allows the router to switch from Fixed Base to Plunge Router by just pressing a button. Another very convenient feature is the rapid height adjustment system that allows the plunge return spring to be quickly removed so you can mount the router in your table and use the 'above the table' micro adjuster. For enhanced safety, the automatic spindle lock will only engage when the power switch safety cover is closed. This ensures that the router can not be accidentally turned on while switching router bits. But our favorite feature is how quickly it can go from hand held to table mounted operation. Simply mount it to the pre-drilled Infinity Tools Aluminum Router Plate (item RTI-INF1) and install it in your router table. Now you've got a powerful table mounted routing station for even the most demanding jobs.

Key Features Include;

  • Mounts directly to our exclusive Infinity Tools Aluminum Router Plate (item RTI-INF1)
  • Powerful 3 1/4 HP (15A) electronically controlled motor
  • Single button switching from plunge to fixed-base routing
  • Smooth operating rack and pinion height adjustment
  • RPM range from 8,000 to 20,000 - Perfect for all of your router bits
  • Automatic spindle lock for fast and easy bit changes with one hand
  • 3 stage turret with direct reading scales for precise pre-set cut depths

  • Micro Winder enables continuous fine depth height adjustment

The Triton Router in not comparable with the Jessem Lift, the router already has a lift mechanism built into it, you do not need a lift with the router.

I have a Triton 3.25 HP router you sent. I cannot get the power button cover to move. I tried plugging the router in. No result. I've tried various buttons. No luck. Is this unit defective? See more »

It sounds like the router is in the fully plunged position with the spindle lock engaged. This causes the clear power switch door to lock in the closed position so the router can't accidentally be turned on and cause damage to the router. un-plunging the router enough to disengage the spindle lock will allow the door to open and the router to be turned on. This same mechanism will prevent the spindle lock from engaging when the power switch is in the on position, so you don't have to worry about over plunging the router in use.

I have a question about the on/off switching of this router. I intend to use it mostly in a router table. My router table has a 3-prong plug inside the router cabinet that can be switched on and off from outside that router cabinet. The effect of this is like starting the router by plugging it in or unplugging it from the electrical receptacle. Can this router be started in this manner? See more »
6 years ago
Yes, with an exception. The on/off switch on the router must be in the "off" position in order to raise the collet above the table and engage the collet lock for bit changes. This is a safety feature built into the Triton router which eliminates to possibility of accidentally starting the motor while to collet lock is engaged. It also acts as a plunge stop so the router cannot over plunge while the router is running. Ultimately bit changes require you to reach below the table and switch the router itself off. Once the bit change is complete the collet can be lowered to disengage the collet lock and the router itself switched back on and controlled by the external switch.
