Regular price $259.90

Interlocking Joinery Adds Strength to Glue-Ups!

Glue Joint shaper cutters are ideal for edge-to-edge glue-ups. Glue joints are made with one piece face down, the other face up.

The unique design of this cutter head allows the user to improve upon traditional butt-joints by creating more glue surface and an interlocking profile for perfect alignment. Make perfectly flat table tops, door panels, and much more with this easy to use shaper cutter.

Our Glue Joint shaper cutter works with stock up to 2" tall and allows the fit of the profile to be adjusted (tighter or looser) or to accommodate the change in profile after sharpening. A set of feeler gauges, 1.5mm allen key, and a flat blade screw driver are all that is needed to precisely adjust the profile for your desired fit.

Item 84-120 includes one cutter head, two knives, one 1.5mm allen key and one knife installation wrench. Make sure to buy an extra set of knives (CIK-120) so you always have a sharp set ready to go. Replacement knives are sold individually.

Features:

Bore 1-1/4" | Cutter Diam. 3-1/2" | Cutter Height 2" | Notes: Includes (2) knives | Stock 1/2" to 2"

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the reverse glue joint shaper cutter used for?

It cuts interlocking edge-to-edge glue joints for panel glue-ups, creating more glue surface and self-aligning the boards for perfectly flat table tops and door panels. See more Insert Pro shaper cutters.

What is the bore size of this shaper cutter?

The cutter has a 1-1/4" bore, a 3-1/2" cutter diameter, and a 2" cutter height.

What stock thickness can it handle?

It works with stock from 1/2" to 2" thick, running up to a 2" tall cutting height.

What is included with the cutter?

Item 84-120 includes one cutter head, two knives, one 1.5mm allen key, and one knife installation wrench.

Can the profile fit be adjusted?

Yes. The design lets you adjust the profile tighter or looser to fine-tune the joint fit and to compensate for any change in profile after sharpening.

What tools do I need to adjust it?

You need a set of feeler gauges, the included 1.5mm allen key, and a flat-blade screwdriver to precisely set your desired fit.

How does a glue joint compare to a butt joint?

A glue joint improves on a traditional butt joint by adding an interlocking profile that increases glue surface area and self-aligns the boards, producing a stronger, flatter panel.

Are replacement knives available?

Yes. Replacement knives (item CIK-120) are sold individually, so we recommend buying an extra set to always have a sharp pair ready. Browse our shaper cutters & accessories.

How should the two boards be oriented when cutting?

Glue joints are made with one piece run face down and the mating piece run face up, so the reversed profiles interlock when the boards are brought together.

What projects is it best suited for?

It is ideal for making perfectly flat table tops, door panels, and wide solid-wood panels. Pair it with our door-making tools for cabinet and door work.
