Narex has established the Profi line of chisels and hand tools for the wood carver who understands the importance of having high quality carving instruments at the ready. Forged from chromium-vanadium steel and heat treated to 59 HRc, this spoon chisel has a stained European beech wood handle that has been formed to an octagonal barrel shape for excellent comfort and control.
With their curved necks, the carver using a spoon type gouge is able to gain extra leverage and achieve cutting angles that aren't possible for straight-neck gouges.

These spoon gouges make cuts that would otherwise be impossible
I needed to make some cuts that required deep curving consistent profiles and these spoon gouges were the only chisels that worked. It took just a short time to condition these chisels and they made razor sharp cuts. I used the spoons for a deep sunburst pattern and also to undercut a series of leaves. The Czechs make a perfect steel for carving chisels; easy to bring to an edge and easy to get really sharp.
