A Depth Stop to Keep Things Straight

Our Premium Rotating Depth Stop is the professional solution to drilling countersinks and counterbores a consistent depth without marring the workpiece. Precision chrome ball bearings allow the bit to rotate freely when the desired depth is reached and the ring contacts the workpiece. The oversized locking screw makes mating the depth stop to any of the Snappy countersinks (from 3/8″ to 1/2″) a cinch. The depth stops also fit on 3/8″, 7/16″, and 1/2″ Snappy Flat-Bottom counterbores.

NOTE: The Premium Rotating Depth Stop does not fit on tapered drill countersinks.

Frequently Asked Questions

What does the Premium Rotating Depth Stop do?

It lets you drill countersinks and counterbores to a consistent depth without marring the workpiece. When the bit reaches the set depth, the ring contacts the surface to stop further plunging. Browse more drilling & boring tools.

Why won't the ring mar my workpiece?

Precision chrome ball bearings let the bit keep rotating freely once the ring touches the surface, so the ring spins rather than dragging against the wood and leaving marks.

Which bits does the depth stop fit?

It mates to Snappy countersinks from 3/8" to 1/2" and to the 3/8", 7/16", and 1/2" Snappy Flat-Bottom counterbores.

Does it work on tapered drill countersinks?

No. The Premium Rotating Depth Stop does not fit tapered drill countersinks. It is designed for the Snappy countersinks and Flat-Bottom counterbores listed.

How does the depth stop attach to a bit?

An oversized locking screw makes mating the depth stop to any compatible Snappy countersink or counterbore quick and secure.

What is the difference between a countersink and a counterbore?

A countersink creates an angled recess for a flathead screw, while a counterbore creates a flat-bottomed recess. This depth stop fits Snappy countersinks (3/8" to 1/2") and Snappy Flat-Bottom counterbores (3/8", 7/16", 1/2").

Why use a depth stop for countersinking?

A depth stop ensures every countersink or counterbore is drilled to the same consistent depth, which gives a uniform, professional result across all your fasteners. Pair it with our drill bits & drivers.

Does it spin freely at depth?

Yes. The precision chrome ball bearings let the bit rotate freely once the ring reaches the workpiece, so it bottoms out cleanly without grabbing.

Who makes this depth stop?

It is a Make it Snappy Tools Premium Rotating Depth Stop, designed to work with the Snappy line of countersinks and counterbores.

Is this a professional-grade tool?

Yes. It is described as the professional solution for drilling consistent-depth countersinks and counterbores without marring the work. See related measuring & layout tools.
