Traditionally, wooden doors were made with extended tenons for added strength and durability. Modern "cope & stick" shaper cutters do not allow an extended tenon to be made. This is why we offer our exclusive Extended Tenon Shaper Cutters for Interior and Exterior Doors. The extended tenon provides additional glue surface, extra cross-grain stability for joint strength, and room for the joint to be pinned, ensuring the door will stay together even if the glue bond fails.
These cutters are designed to work with and be a perfect match to our Rail & Stile Shaper Cutters for Interior and Exterior Doors, allowing you to make extended tenons on the end of your rails up to 1-7/8" long. With a 3/4" bore these cutters are designed for shapers with a 3/4" spindle and can be used on your 1/2" spindle shaper with a pair of T-Bushing Adapters. The corresponding mortise will need to be made in a separate operation by traditional means. Available in both Ogee and Shaker profiles these cutters will help you produce doors that are as strong as they are beautiful.

Will not cut the advertised depth of cut without making a custom spacer for the arbor.
