Inspired by Colonial Williamsburg Furniture of the 17th and 18th centuries, these 7 router bits are ideal for making period furniture molding, panel molding, waist moldings and more. Similar to actual moldings found in homes of this period, they would have originally been made with scratch stocks or molding planes but now they can be created using the router.

These router bit profiles take inspiration from several specific design periods. Some of these designs can find roots as far back as the 17th-century period of American furniture as well as the Baroque period and carry right on into the Queen Ann and Neoclassical/Federal periods. In short, if you appreciate classic American furniture and architectural millwork, this is a must-have set.

You can purchase the bits individually or pick up the entire set for one great price and received a complimentary wooden box to store them!

When I ordered these two bits, I realized a short time after I ordered them (less than an hour later) that a set of bits would be better for me than just these two. I emailed Infinity Tools and received a prompt reply that my bits “had already been shipped.” This seemed amazing to me, especially as I received an email that evening (approximately 8h later) notifying me that the shipping label had been printed and the order was being processed. Not sure why your process is to deny an order cancellation that comes in so soon after an order is placed, but it makes me unlikely to use Infinity tools again. There are a number of companies that sell high quality router bits.

Great Router Bits - But - Online Measurements Are Frustratingly Inaccurate.

I've always found infinity router bits to be among the highest quality that one can buy. However, I was greatly disappointed that the measurement shown online for one of the most recent router bits that I purchased - bit number 19-120 (A colonial period base cap moulding bit) - was way off. The online drawing for router bit number 19-120 states that the height of the moulding produced would be 1 3/4”. When in fact that image as shown in the drawing only produces a 1 1/2” tall moulding. The overall cutting height of the bit is only 1 11/16” so there is no way it can produce a 1 3/4" piece of moulding. This measurement discrepancy was very disappointing as the project that am currently working on requires a 1 3/4” piece of moulding to balance off the piece. A 1/4 of an inch is a huge discrepancy when it comes to woodworking. Now I have to decide whether to return the bit that cost $64.90 (plus roughly $11 in shipping - or just eat the loss and continue looking for a similar 1 3/4” router bit that is actually a true 1 3/4” in cutting height. At the very least I’ll have to think twice before ordering another router bit from infinity when the actual measurements are critical - which is most of the time for me.

Thanks for the feedback. Our team puts a lot of effort into serving and supporting our customers to the best of our ability. 19-120 does have a cutter height of 1-11/16", we do not list the bit as 1-3/4" molding bit. No we do not. The table top has pilot holes predrilled for our Infinity Heavy Duty Stand. These may not line up with the stand that you are building but you can certainly drill your own holes in the bottom of the table top.

Some of the most common questions we get asked revolve around making period moldings for furniture and architectural trim work. Without a doubt, the most common period is loosely referred to as the Colonial period which includes American furniture dating from the 1620s through the 1790s.

Here at Infinity Cutting Tools we took the time to create a set of router bits that represent the most common profiles from this period so that woodworkers have the ability to reproduce these timeless details. In fact, most of these router bits are copies of profiles found on antiques and in Colonial-period homes.

In the photo above, you can see the profiles for each router bit in the 7-pc. Colonial router bit set.

For those of you interested, these router bit profiles take inspiration from several specific design periods. Some of these designs can find roots as far back as the 17th-century period of American furniture as well as the Baroque period and carry right on into the Queen Ann and Neoclassical/Federal periods. In short, if you appreciate classic American furniture and architectural millwork, this is a must-have set.

The Infinity Colonial Period Router Bit Set includes seven different profiles of router bits that allow you to make interior trim pieces like baseboards, picture rails, and crown molding. The set also includes larger profiles that are right at home in exterior applications such as the rake molding along roof eaves. This is great if you are remodeling a classic home or building from scratch and want something that is not just off the shelf from the home center.

The great thing about the Colonial Period Router Bit Set is that almost all of the profiles can add eye-catching details to furniture. With these router bits you can add beautiful and appropriate profiles to every part of your furniture project from the skirt to the crown.

By combining the profiles from these router bits you can create impressive details for both furniture and trim work that are simply not available from other sources.
