Frequently Asked Questions

What is a drawer locking router bit used for?

It cuts strong, interlocking drawer lock joints quickly and accurately, taking the guesswork out of building drawer boxes. See more joinery router bits.

What material thickness do I need for the drawer front?

The minimum thickness for the drawer front is 3/4", and the sides should be from 1/2" to 3/4" thick.

How thick should the drawer sides be?

The sides should be 1/2" to 3/4" thick. For a box-type drawer, use the same thickness for the rear face as you used for the front.

Does this bit come with a setup block?

No. The setup block is sold separately for this bit. Browse related cabinetry & joinery tools.

What shank size does this drawer lock bit have?

It has a 1/2" shank, a 1-3/4" cutter diameter, and a 1/2" cutter height, requiring a router with a 1/2" collet.

How do I make sure the drawers come out flat?

Make sure the material is flat and square with accurate 90-degree end cuts. This keeps the joints straight and the finished drawer flat.

Why use a single bit for both parts of the joint?

The drawer lock profile cuts both mating parts from one bit, so the joint assembles consistently and efficiently with less setup. See more carbide router bits.

Should I use this bit in a router table?

Yes. A router table provides the support and accuracy needed for clean, repeatable drawer lock joints.

What is the overall length of the bit?

The overall length is 2-1/16", with a 1/2" cutter height.

Who makes this drawer locking router bit?

It is made by Infinity Cutting Tools. Explore the full line of carbide router bits.
