Every once in a while you run across a product that makes you wonder, "Why didn't I get this sooner?" In the Infinity shop, the Incra Miter 5000 Miter Sled definitely fits that description. In fact, it wasn't until we started using the Incra Miter 5000 that we decided it would be a no-brainer to offer this to our customers.
If you're like most woodworkers that make crosscuts and miter cuts with your table saw, I'm sure you've had trouble securing small workpieces while making angled cuts, supporting long, thin crosscuts, or had problems with tear-out. The Miter 5000 helps eliminate all those issues. It provides clamping points for securing your work, a long, solid fence for cutting all those long pieces, and a table that provides zero-clearance accuracy for tear-out-free cuts of every type.
If you're looking for a new miter gauge or want the ultimate in crosscut sleds, I strongly recommend you consider the Incra Miter 5000 Miter Sled. It combines Incra's top-of-the-line miter gauge with a crosscut sled and a longer fence, giving you the best of both worlds.
One of the first things that you'll notice about the Miter 5000 is that it works like a crosscut sled and offers 25" of crosscut capacity at 90°. The great thing about this is that it automatically creates a zero-clearance insert for your saw blade which helps to reduce tear-out. The second thing the sled features is an anodized fence that telescopes from 36" to 64".
The T-slots in the sled base allow for the included hold-down clamp. This secures the workpiece and eliminates any movement that would affect the accuracy and safety of the cut. This is especially helpful with cutting miters.
When you start looking at the miter gauge itself, you'll notice that the gauge has 364 positive stops and can be positioned at any 1/2° in a full 180° sweep. You can still position the gauge in between these 1/2° stops as well. The position of the stops on this sled make cutting miters of any angle accurate, repeatable, and super easy.
Another great feature of Incra's Miter 5000 is the flip stop, a multi-position stop that allows you to make repeatable length cuts quickly and easily. The stop locks are rock-solid on the fence and will not slip or move during use. There are two adjustable flip-down arms that allow you to position the stop accurately. This is very handy if you want to square up one end of your piece, then flip it over and cut it to final length or cut two different length pieces without moving the stop.
I am sure you will be as happy with the Miter 5000 as we are. It provides great value for a lot of function and accuracy. It helps improve accuracy in miters and crosscuts, helps improve safety when using your table saw, and helps achieve a tear-out-free cut that will add value to your projects.
