Have you ever struggled to make a hole in a project because you didn't have a big enough drill bit? Heck even if you did have a huge bit was the hole clean, accurate, and burn-free? Whenever we need to make large holes here in the Wood Lab we reach for our Circle and Radius Cutting Template.
Infinity's Circle and Radius Cutting Template features 12 precision CNC machined holes from 1-1/4 inches all the way up to 3-1/2 inches giving you tons of choices for making the right size hole. Our template also features a different radius at each corner giving you a choice of 1/4", 3/8", 1/2" and 3/4" radii to quickly and accurately round over the corners of your project using a Pattern Router Bit. Every hole and radius is clearly marked so you can be confident you are getting the exact size hole you want. The template itself is made of 1/4" thick clear acrylic making it both durable and easy to locate on you work piece so you can be confident this template will always be up to the task.
The holes in this template are 1/8" over the marked size and are designed to be used with a 5/8" low profile router template guide and a 1/2" straight cut bit. For best results we recommend our brass template guide Kit, item # BTG-100 and our 1/2" diameter solid carbide spiral up-cut bit, item #85-911. With these products, you are sure to get optimum performance and a clean accurate hole.
To use our template to cut a hole simply apply some double-sided tape or clamps to secure the template where you want it on your project. Once the template is secure and exactly where you want it, use your router with a 5/8" low profile guide bushing and a 1/2" straight bit. Set your router to the depth you want to make your hole and make the cut. It is a good idea to take a first pass with the router, clean out the sawdust, and make a second pass to be sure your hole is perfect.
To use the template to put a radius on the corner of your project simply secure the template to your work piece with the edges of the template flush with the edges of your work piece. Then using a pattern router bit simply follow the pattern and round over the corner. Its quick, easy, and accurate giving you perfect round overs every time.
Want to add even more versatility to this template? You can use different combinations of low profile bushings and various diameter straight bits in your router to achieve just about any size hole you want. All it takes is a little math and the right combo of bushing and bit!
