Our Insert-Pro shaper cutters are production-quality tools designed to maximize productivity, even in the most demanding workshop environments. These money-saving 2-Pc sets let you build custom kitchen cabinet doors in five different profiles. Invest in the head once and then add your choice of additional profile knives to expand your door making capabilities.

The Raised Panel Shaper Cutter will leave a 1/4" thick tongue when working with 5/8" material but can be used with 3/4" thick material with the addition of our back cutter (item 84-010), see below for link. The Combination Rail and Stile Shaper Cutter will work with door frame stock from 3/4" to 1" thick.

Benefits of Insert-Pro Shaper Cutters:

Versatility: One head accepts multiple profile knives so your not stuck having to buy a new cutter to make a different style panel door. Once you own the cutter body you need only invest in the different profiles knives as your needs require, saving you hundreds of dollars in tooling cost.

Quality: Because the carbide knives are not brazed but mechanically fixed to the high-quality aluminum body we avoid thermal cracking normally associated with brazing harder grades of carbide on larger tools. This distinct advantage allows us to use a much harder and longer lasting carbide knife than would be possible if the tool were brazed.

Mirror Finish: We grind these carbide knives to a true mirror finish. This superior quality grind produces a slick surface for wood chips to eject faster and resists the resin build-up of inferior quality knives. Not only is the resulting cut incredibly smooth, the time between sharpening is increased by approximately 50% over traditional carbide tools.

Sharpening: When it comes time to sharpen your knives, take the knife out of the bit body and lay flat with the cutting face up, then take a diamond hone with a drop of lubricant and pass over the face several times to re-gain the cutting edge. This fast and simple method of re-sharpening will have you up and running again in no time.

Coating: Each cutter body is hard anodized. This tough and durable coating extends the life of your tool by preventing rust and eliminating pitch and resin build-up.

What bore size do these shaper cutters have?

The set has a 1-1/4" bore to fit standard shaper spindles. Explore more Insert Pro shaper cutters.

What is included in the 2-piece set?

The set includes a Raised Panel Shaper Cutter and a Combination Rail and Stile Shaper Cutter, giving you a complete frame-and-panel cabinet door system.

How many door profiles can I make?

These Insert-Pro sets let you build custom kitchen cabinet doors in five different profiles. You buy the head once and add profile knives as your needs require.

What stock thickness does the rail and stile cutter handle?

The Combination Rail and Stile Shaper Cutter works with door frame stock from 3/4" to 1" thick.

How thick a tongue does the raised panel cutter leave?

The Raised Panel Shaper Cutter leaves a 1/4" thick tongue when working with 5/8" material, and can be used with 3/4" material with the addition of the matching back cutter.

Why are the knives mechanically fixed instead of brazed?

Mechanically fixing the carbide knives avoids the thermal cracking associated with brazing harder carbide on large tools, which allows a much harder and longer-lasting knife than a brazed tool could use.

How do I sharpen the carbide knives?

Remove the knife from the body and lay it flat with the cutting face up, then pass a diamond hone with a drop of lubricant over the face several times to restore the edge. This simple method gets you running again quickly.

How does the mirror finish help performance?

The true mirror finish creates a slick surface that ejects chips faster and resists resin build-up, producing an incredibly smooth cut and extending time between sharpenings by about 50% over traditional carbide tools.

Is the cutter body coated?

Yes. Each cutter body is hard anodized, a tough, durable coating that extends tool life by preventing rust and eliminating pitch and resin build-up.

How does this set save money over time?

Because one head accepts multiple profile knives, you avoid buying a new cutter for every door style—you simply add profile knives as needed. Browse shaper cutters & accessories to expand your options.
