Superior Forstner Bits with German Engineering

Bormax 2.0 Forstner Bits from Famag are made in Germany of high-quality alloy tool steel with a black oxide finish that provides superior corrosion resistance and reduced pitch buildup. Bormax 2.0 Forstner bits provide unmatched precision and longevity while requiring less power to drive. They can be run at higher RPM for faster drilling without fear of burning or clogging in Softwood, hardwoods, particleboard, melamine, and MDF.

Waveform/Split Circumference Body Design

Unlike traditional Forstner bits with only two scoring lips, Bormax 2.0 forstner bits feature waveform design bodies that reduce friction and create multiple scoring cutters for a cleaner, cooler cut, and extended bit life.

Offset Chip Breaker Cutting Edges

The two main cutting edges feature a staggered chip breaker profile that produces narrow shavings for unparalleled chip ejection in even the deepest holes. The offset design means that each chip is cut every half revolution eliminating the main cause of clogging, especially with smaller bit sizes.

Optimized Center Spur

The optimized center spur ensures accurate wander free drilling in both angled and overlapping hole. this slightly longer than average spur has sharp edges that keep the bit on track while still cutting easily to reduce feed pressure.

Hex Shanks

Each and every Bormax 2.0 Forstner bit features a hex shank that won't slip in your chuck making them ideal for handheld, drill press, and lathe boring applications.

Infinity Forstner Bit Storage Case, FAM-CASE

This Infinity exclusive storage case is designed to keep your Forstner bits safe and organized when not in use. The hard plastic case has a comfortable carry handle and dual latches that won't pop open accidentally. The custom-molded insert holds up to 10 Forstner bits and is designed to be a perfect solution to store your Famag Bormax 2.0 Forstner bit collection.

Cute clean

Cut amazing but does not have a guide screw as the tip so it wanders when trying to cut consecutive holes for mortises.

I need to make 1.5 " wide by 1.75" deep dados with an underpowered (2 hp) cabinet saw. Can I use the 8" dadonator safely by making repeated shallow passes, increasing the depth of cut by about 1/2" to 3/4" on each pass? Thanks for your reply. See more »

Yes, I think your plan sounds perfectly acceptable. I would personally follow the same procedure on a larger saw. 2 HP is fine to run the 8" Dadonator.

Hi, would the 8" Dadonator be compatible with a SawStop cabinet saw? I am assuming that I would need the 8" one as it would have to be close to the safety brake. Additionally, I see that it is made in Italy, is the diameter truly an exact 8" ? If it is a small fraction over (as in a metric "equivalent") it may not work with the SawStop safety brake. The 8" Dadonator works perfectly in the Sawstop when paired the the 8" dado cartridge. We have been using one in our Sawstop PCS for years.

No, not all tablesaws will accept a dado stack. we strongly recommend referring to the saws owners manual before trying to use a dado set on your jobsite style tablesaw.

Yes, with a 5/8" arbor and standard 4500 RPM arbor speed, the 8" Dadonator would be an excellent choice for the Laguna Fusion.

The outside blades on your dado sets look like they would cause a lot of chipped edges when cutting dados across the grain in plywood. I would instead expect these to be blades with a high tooth count. Please explain. See more »
5 years ago
Each outer blade on our Dadonator sets has 24 teeth with a combination of raker and top bevel teeth designed to score material for extremely clean and smooth cross-grain cuts. Because a dado must allow multiple blades to nest together there is a limitation to how many teeth can fit on the outer blades. Also, tooth geometry is typically more important than tooth count. We believe our Dadonator sets produce the highest quality cuts of any on the market, and we are happy to back that up with our satisfaction guarantee. https://www.infinitytools.com/guarantee/

Famag Bormax 2.0 Forstner Bits and Accessories.

Forstner bits are extremely useful woodworking tools. They allow you to drill accurate, flat bottom holes in all types of wood. They also come in a wide range of sizes from 1/4" to 2-1/4" and beyond.  Forstner bits, like any other cutting tool, must be made to tight tolerances and of high-quality materials to produce clean, accurate, and burn-free cuts. This is why we reach for Famag Bormax 2.0 Forstner Bits in our shop. Let's take a look at what makes these German-made Forstner bits a great choice for your shop.

Who Is Famag?

Famag was founded in 1865 and has been manufacturing drill bits in Germany for over 150 years. Since then, Famag has been known for producing some of the highest quality Forstner bits available. Carrying on the tradition of quality and innovation, the Bormax 2.0 line of Forstner bits combines old-world craftsmanship with modern manufacturing techniques and materials. As a result, these bits produce the cleanest, most accurate holes we have ever achieved while maintaining an unmatched lifespan.

Famag Bormax 2.0 Forstner Bits feature Waveform bodies, offset chip breaker cutting edges, hex shanks, and a black oxide coating.
Famag Bormax 2.0 Forstner Bits feature Waveform bodies, offset chip breaker cutting edges, hex shanks, and a black oxide coating.

Bormax 2.0 Forstner Bits are made of Alloyed Tool Steel and coated with a Black oxide finish to resist corrosion. When you compare a Bormax 2.0 to any other Forstner bit you will immediately notice the unique Waveform/Split Circumference body. This design serves two distinct purposes. First, it produces multiple scoring lips around the parameter of the cutter. This helps cleanly sever the wood fibers and produce a beautiful cut. Second, it reduces friction and heat which can cause burning and premature dulling of the tool.

Famag Bormax 2.0 Forstner Bits
Famag Bormax 2.0 Forstner Bits

Traditional Forstner bits have straight main cutters that create wide shavings and cause clogging especially in deeper holes. Famag Bormax 2.0 Forstner Bits have offset chip breaker cutting edges that produce short and narrow shavings. This greatly reduces clogging so you don't have to stop drilling to clear the waste.

All Bormax 2.0 Forstner Bits measure 3-1/2" overall and have a Hex Shank. This hex shank means the bit won't slip in your drills' chuck. Why does this matter? Forstner bits remove a lot of wood in a hurry, especially as the sizes get larger. The added torque can cause bits with round shanks to slip causing damage to your project and even your drill. A hex shank eliminates all possibility of a Bormax 2.0 Forstner bit from slipping.

Famag Bormax 2.0 Forstner Bit Depth Stop Kit (101-973)
Famag Bormax 2.0 Forstner Bit Depth Stop Kit (101-973)

Depth Stops are our favorite because they allow you to repeatedly drill to the same depth when using a handheld drill. They also help make it easier to drill square to the surface. The Famag Depth Stop Kit (101-973) is incredibly easy to install and set up. Each kit includes bushings to work with all but the largest bit sizes that you will want to use in your drill press.

Famag Bormax 2.0 Forstner Bit Extension Kit (101-966)
Famag Bormax 2.0 Forstner Bit Extension Kit (101-966)

Famag Forstner Bit Extensions come in two-piece sets with one of each 125mm and 250mm extensions. One set works with 8mm shank bits and the other works with 10mm shank bits. All of the extensions have 4 set screws to lock the bit securely in place. While the 8mm extensions cannot be connected end-to-end, the 10mm versions can be. When connected, they create a 350mm extra-long extension. To get the most from you Famag Forstner Bit set, make sure you pick-up both the 8mm and 10mm extension kits.

Famag Bormax 2.0 Forstner Bit #2 Morse Taper Adapter (101-968)
Famag Bormax 2.0 Forstner Bit #2 Morse Taper Adapter (101-968)

We also offer a Famag #2 Morse Taper Adapter specifically for those using Forstner Bits on their woodturning lathes. The Morse Taper Adapter allows you to mount your 10mm shank bits directly into your lathes' tail stock, eliminating the need for a dedicated chuck. This can free-up bed length so you can drill deeper and larger projects. We also offer an excluding Famag 5-Pc. Pepper Mill Boring Kit (101-950) specifically for those who like to turn those beautiful wooden salt and pepper grinders you see in fancy kitchens and restaurants.
