Bormax³ Carbide Tipped Forstner Bits: Superior German Engineering and Long-Lasting Performance
Unmatched Durability and Precision
Bormax³ Carbide Tipped Forstner Bits from Famag are meticulously engineered in Germany using premium alloy tool steel and a black oxide finish. This high-quality construction provides superior corrosion resistance and reduces pitch buildup, ensuring your tools stay sharp and effective.
With a thick micro-grain carbide layer, these bits maintain a sharp cutting edge up to ten times longer than standard tool steel, making them a top choice for professional woodworkers and DIY enthusiasts alike.
- Clean, Tear-Free Cuts with Advanced Raking Tooth Design
Each Bormax³ Forstner bit features a precision carbide raking tooth positioned directly behind the main cutting edge, delivering clean and splinter-free holes. This design prevents tear-out when entering and exiting your stock, giving you flawless cuts every time.
- High RPM Capability and Versatile Performance
Built for versatility, Bormax³ Forstner Bits work efficiently in various materials, including softwoods, hardwoods, particleboard, and melamine. They perform exceptionally well at higher RPMs, reducing the risk of burning or clogging. This allows for faster, smoother drilling that requires less power, even in tough materials.
- Waveform Body Design for a Cooler, Cleaner Cut
These carbide tipped Forstner bits are designed with an innovative waveform body and multiple scoring cutters, which reduce friction for cooler operation and longer-lasting sharpness. Unlike traditional Forstner bits, Bormax³ bits feature split circumference scoring that results in cleaner cuts with minimal maintenance.
- Optimized Center Spur and Hex Shank for Stability and Control
The Bormax³’s center spur is milled directly from the carbide layer and ground for precise concentricity, keeping the bit stable and on track. The hex shank design prevents slippage, making these bits ideal for handheld drills, drill presses, and lathe applications.

I purchased the 6' Dadonator Jr expecting it to perform as described in Infinity Cutting Tools catalog. For the most part it performed as expected. Issues with the actual dado width produced by the blade were not what I was expecting, dado width was close to 1/64' oversized. Customer support experience was not a pleasant one. After many back and forth emails to convince Infinity that I was properly installing and using the blade they agreed to returning the blade for diagnosis at their facility.Three aggravating weeks later Infinity agreed that the blade was not within their specifications and offered to return the blade or give a refund. I chose the refund. During this entire process I got the distinct impression that Infinity Cutting Tools was convinced that their product was not the problem but rather it was something I was doing wrong ,in the end Infinity begrudgingly agreed that the fault was the Dado blade and not user error. Will I buy other Infinity Cutting tools in the future? Yes I most likely will. Nothing is perfect, mistakes happen and I try to be a gracious person.
Customer ServiceI was wanting a dado blade that didn’t leave “bat ear” undecuts at the outside edges of the dado groove
My overall experience has been very positive.

Most woodworkers are familiar with Forstner bits, specifically designed to create precise, clean, flat-bottomed holes, and much cleaner than a spade bit. How could they get any better? By adding carbide!
These Famag Bormax Forstner bits have a solid carbide, 3/32”-thick chipper, running the full diameter of the bit. The center spur is milled into that chipper, making it part of the solid piece. The side spurs are canted at a negative shear angle, compared to the shear angle of the main cutter. The carbide scoring teeth are set just below the perimeter, creating a scoring cut to prevent tear out. The micro-grain carbide bits maintain a sharp cutting edge up to ten times longer than standard tool steel, and deliver clean and splinter-free holes.
These Forstner bits are ideal for use in handheld drills, drill presses, and lathe applications and are offered in eight sizes ...
... or in a money-saving set, complete with storage case.
These bits work efficiently in a variety of materials, including softwoods and hardwoods with precise, clean cuts.
And these carbide forstner bits are just as efficient in particleboard, melamine and even solid surface materials.
Kick your Forsnter bit performance up a couple of notches with carbide-tipped Forstners from Famag.
