What size Forster bits are required for the small glass template?

The templates are designed to be primarily used with a router, routing out the openings. Although you could use a forstner bit to help remove materials the center spur of the bit would leave an indentation which would require additional clean up, that's why we do not recommend using a forstner bit for this type of operation.
