How do you use an ovolo bit with the bearing under the cutter? Is it only for handheld routers or can it be used otherwise?

Want to try some of the ovolo bits 27-570 etc... trying to understand in general... the bearing kit ... how do you use /apply a bit when the bearing is under the cutter... is it only to be used on a hand held router working on top of the finished piece

Ovalo bits are round over bits without a bottom bearing. They can be used in a handheld router using an edge guide or in the router table using the fence. the top bearing kit can be used to follow a template. Ovolo typically are used when the bearing on a standard round over bit will interfere with the cut being made.
