For routing black walnut pickup cavities, what’s the difference between 11-127B and 01-127B? Recommend a bit?
Infinity Tools 1/4" Shank Mortise & Tenon Router Bits
I'm routing guitar pickup cavities using a pattern. The wood is black walnut. I'm looking at 11-127B and 01-127B. What's the difference between them? Would you recommend a different bit for this application?

The biggest difference between the 01-128 and the 11-127 is the cutter height. The 01-128 has a cutting height of 5/16" and the 11-127 has a cutting height is 3/4" which one would work for you depends on several variables such as pattern thickness and pocket depth for the pickup. Typically I would recommend using a guide bushing and a down cut spiral bit for your application, as the bushing eliminates the limitations of a bearing guided bit. As long as your template is designed to take into account the offset created by the bushing this would be the ideal method.
