The 3.5" and 4.2" dimensions refer to the diameter of the router motor itself. If you remove your router motor from the base you can measure its diameter and determine which lift you will need. typically routers rated at under 3 HP will be 3.5" in diameter while routers over 3 HP will be 4.2" in diameter. You will need to measure your router to be sure.
