When your making the football tray. what is the total thickness over all , and what would be the best way to attach the laces in the wood?

The thickness and design of the tray is completely up to you. The tray we made was roughly 2" thick and and made from 5 pieces including the laces block, We talk about making the lases in our blog. You can find a link in the description above.
