The Deros Sander comes fully assembled with a multi hole hook and loop pad, basically this is the part of the sander that spins and orbits. The Deros also includes a pad protector, this is a thin disk with male hook and loop on one side and female hook and loop (velcro) on the other. It can be added between the Pad and the sandpaper to protect the pad (keep the hooks on the pad from wringing out ) and also adds a little cushion to the pad making it a little better at following light contours. The pad itself is considered a wear item and will eventually need to be replace as with any other sander. How frequently the pad will need to be replaces is dependent on how frequently the sander is used. A production cabinet shop may replace the pad every few weeks while a serious hobbyist may replace the pad once every year or two.
