What’s the bearing for on the stile bit if the workpiece is below it? Also, why does it bounce into the fence?

re 91-526 set. what is the purpose of the bearing on the stile bit since the workpiece is below the level of the bearing? Also when I set up for the stile bit and run through the last couple of inches "bounce" into the fence and cause a mishap on the piece. This again is caused by the workpiece on riding on a bearing but on the bit itself.

The bearing can be used to set your fence & follow a template for Arch top doors. Make sure to use a feather board or hold downs to eliminate bouncing. It sounds like the fence is set too deep and causing snipe at the end of the cut.
