Is Odie's Wax a good non-toxic finish for a paper mache project that might be mouthed by children?
Odie's Oil Wood Wax Food Safe Wood Finish - 9 oz. Jar
Hello, I'm looking for a nontoxic finish for a paper mache project. The item I'm making will not be a toy, nor will it be used for eating, but it will be handled and there's a possibility that a child might put it in his or her mouth. How do you think Odie's Wax would work on paper? I know it wouldn't provide as much protection as varnish, but I'm thinking it would provide at least some protection against moisture, soil, etc.

I would not recommend Odies Wax for your application because I believe the Paper Mache would be too fragile and would not be able to stand up to the buffing process of both applying and removing the excess wax from the project.
