The actual diameter of the bushing is not important as long as the difference between the small OD and large OD are .250" (1/4") they will produce the correct offset for the 1/8" bit. Many factors can cause the inlay not to fit together perfectly. Wood species, sawdust, router bit off center, and so on. these kits are manufactured to very tight tolerances so if the inlay is tight it can be \necessary to ease the edges with fine sandpaper to knock off any fuzz or sharp edges to help to inlay pop into place.
