You certainly can cut lock miters by adjusting the fence and making multiple passes. The height should remain constant. A chamfer can also be cut to remove some of the bulk before running the lock miter which would save some wear and tear on the bit. If planning to build more than a handful of these boxes I would recommend considering using a Shaper.
