Question: Does the 010-124 thin kerf rip blade flex? I have issues with deflection on thin kerf blades. Will this one perform better?
Answer: I recommend the 010-124 in every situation except for when a customer simply needs a 1/8" kerf. In use, the thin kerf version should perform identically to the full kerf version except it will produce slightly less resistance because it is removing 25% less material. It is my go-to ripping blade, especially in thicker stock. Our thin kerf blades (and standard kerf) are stress relieved and tensioned so the plate stays true as the blade heats up in use.
Question: Can I use a thin kerf blade with the DW745's riving knife? Is a thin kerf blade advantageous for 3/4” cherry wood?
Answer: You will need to reference your saws owner's manual for compatibility. We recommend a thin kerf blade whenever possible even on full-sized saws. A thin-kerf blade is 25% thinner than a standard kerf and requires considerably less power to make a given cut. For long ripping cuts, we believe a thin kerf blade is the best choice.
